Spicer Mayor Candidate
As your Mayor, I am focused on personal leadership and community engagement. Since joining the Spicer City Council in 1999, I have been a consistent advocate for fiscal responsibility and conservative leadership. My commitment to personal responsibility and accountability ensures that the needs of Spicer's residents and business owners are always prioritized.
Experience:
Together, let's continue building a strong, and vibrant community. Our community’s strength lies in our ability to work together where everyone has a voice, and every voice matters. Supporting local businesses, and planning for thoughtful growth, we can ensure that Spicer remains a great place for future generations. By embracing new ideas and innovative solutions, we can address the challenges of tomorrow, while preserving the traditions that make Spicer unique. I intend to maintain open lines of communication, ensuring that the decisions we make are in the best interests of all.
Together, we will work to ensure that Spicer remains an affordable place to live by keeping property taxes in check, while still investing in the services and infrastructure that matter most to our community. Through smart budgeting and prioritizing efficiency, we can maintain a balance between progress and affordability. This is my commitment to financial responsibility and the well-being of residents.
I’m seeking your support and votes on November 5th.

Fiscal responsibility has always been one of my top priorities, and I understand the burden that rising property taxes have placed on residents. As Mayor, I will work to maintain a balanced budget while minimizing the need for tax increases. This includes finding efficiencies in city operations, prioritizing essential services, and pursuing alternative funding sources such as state and federal grants. I will also work to ensure that any new developments contribute positively to our tax base, helping to ease the burden on individual property owners.
Affordable housing is essential to ensuring that Spicer remains a welcoming community for all. As Mayor, I will focus on creating partnerships with developers, nonprofits, and state programs to build more affordable housing options. Spicer's tourism offers growth; I'll boost attractions, support local biz, and balance needs.
Spicer has unique opportunities for economic growth through the tourists who visit each year. I will promote our attractions to draw more visitors and support local businesses that cater to tourists. By investing in tourism and maintaining our town’s charm, we can boost local businesses to create new job opportunities. At the same time,

I’ve been proudly and happily married to Chris deCathelineau for 45 years. We have three wonderful children: Claire, Calli, and our late son, Neal. Our family has grown to include two fantastic sons-in-law, Nathan and Ben, and two beautiful granddaughters, Paige and Lily. We’re truly blessed.
My husband Chris, a lifelong Spicer resident, and I have made Spicer our home for over three decades. We spent the first 12 years of our marriage in rural Spicer before moving into town in 1992, where we've lived ever since.
With 35 years of experience working for the NLS School District, I currently serve as the Payroll/HR/Finance Officer. My deep connection to this community and my professional expertise equip me to serve Spicer with dedication and integrity.
I graduated from Wellcome Memorial High School in Garden City in 1977 and later earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Willmar Vo-Tech in 1979. Currently, I also serve on the Board of Directors for Project Turnabout. My past board memberships include the Pioneerland Board of Directors.
